Indigenous Wisdom Curriculum
Wednesday July 15, 2026 1:45pm - 2:30pm MDT
The Indigenous Wisdom Curriculum (IWC) is a Pueblo‑based educational initiative designed to strengthen the identity of Native American students in New Mexico. The curriculum provides comprehensive K–12-unit plans that address the complex political, social, cultural, and economic history of the Pueblo nations of New Mexico, grounded in Pueblo perspectives and lived experience. The IWC was created to serve as a counter‑narrative to the way New Mexico history is commonly presented in public education. By centering Pueblo knowledge, history, and agency, the curriculum addresses gaps and inaccuracies that have long excluded Indigenous voices. The program supports Native American students while also providing valuable learning opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds.
